Ah yes, I remember the (happily short) time when my wife wasn't yet my wife, and we encountered this sort of dilemma regularly:

Taking my cue from Garrison Keillor, I used the term P.O.S.S.L.Q., meaning Person of the Opposite Sex Sharing Living Quarters. It gave away much too much, but was otherwise useful and kept me out of deeper waters from which, were I not careful, I would never have returned in my relationship with my wife-to-be.

Ah, those were the days, never to be forgotten, never to be repeated.
